Eric Murrietta

USA Level 4 Certified Coach
Head Coach AZ Union Midget

An Arizona native, Eric has been involved with sports and athletics since a young boy. He grew up playing roller hockey in the streets and on tennis courts before there were multiple rinks in Arizona. The landscape has changed for the sport of hockey in Arizona, but Eric’s love for the game has never wavered.

In the mid-90’s as the Phoenix Coyotes moved into Arizona and the new rinks began to spring up, opportunities for Arizona youth hockey players increased dramatically. With hard work and dedication, Eric made his way from the VOSHA organization and into the Junior ranks with the Phoenix Junior Polar Bears. There he began to understand the intricacies in hockey and hone his skills. He worked his way through Arizona State University and turned his passion for sports into a degree in Exercise Science. He graduated in 2005 with a B.S. in Kinesiology. During that time, he trained multiple teams and players individually. In 2000/2001 he worked for Ozzie Ice as an assistant athletic trainer and on ice trainer. Though the next few years took him away from the sport he loved, he completed his education and continued his work in the athletic industry.

In 2006, he began his foray back into hockey by coaching with Todd Collins through the Chandler Youth Hockey Organization. Since that time he has slowly climbed the ranks and now is a Head Coach within the Arizona Hockey Union Association. His passion for the game and for the kids he teaches continues and his goal to improve young players so they reach their full potential is thriving.

Eric’s goal is to give each player the support and training they need to succeed as they progress through the levels of hockey within Arizona. Should you have any questions or would like to set an appointment, please contact Eric at (602) 670-3272.
