OZZIE BEARS 2008-09 SQUIRT TEAM

CODE OF CONDUCT

Team Objectives:

1. HAVE FUN!!

2. Develop individual skills of each player.

3. Teach all players to work together as a team.

4. Build a strong foundation for each player to understand the game.

5. Have players learn other positions.

6. Help players develop creativity on the ice.

7. Teach EVERYONE involved to respect the game, players, coaches & parents.

8. Create new friendships.

Coaches’ Expectations for the Players:

1. Give 100% All Of The Time.

2. Show respect to coaches, teammates, opponents, referees & parents.

3. Be well mannered on and off the ice.

4. Show respect to all arenas and dressing rooms.

5. Win as a team, Lose as a team. Selfishness will not be tolerated.

6. Each player makes a commitment to their teammates.

7. Older/stronger players should mentor younger/less experienced players through team leadership.

8. Practice and game attendance is mandatory; any scheduling conflicts should be discussed with coaches well in

advance.

9. Players must be in the dressing room completely dressed at least 15 minutes before going on the ice. Parents should

exit the dressing room at that time.

10. The team manager must be notified if a player will be late or absent at least 4 hours before ice time.

Coaches’ Expectations for the Parents:

1. Be respectful in the stands.

2. Put your trust in the coaches. Do not coach your child from the stands, in the car, or at home. Do not use a stopwatch

to check your child's time on the ice.

3. All issues and/or concerns need to be addressed to the coaches not with other parents or the team manager.

Conversations or confrontations will be held in private and away from the players.

4. Be aware of your child’s eating and sleeping habits so they are prepared for all games and practices.

5. Respect the decision-making process amongst the coaches.

6. Involve your family in volunteerism - fundraising, organizing travel plans, "Goal Can," etc.

7. Parents must exit the dressing room 15 minutes before ice time to allow coaches to talk with players. Please be sure

player is fully dressed with skates on before leaving.

8. Coaches need 10-15 minutes after games/practices to talk with players; please do not enter the dressing room until the

door is opened by one of the coaches.

Players’ and Parents’ Expectations of the Coaches:

1. Be honest and open with each and every person on the team.

2. Treat all matters with respect both on and off the ice.

3. Do not create double standards.

4. Do not berate or belittle anyone in public or private.

5. Treat all players equally.
