Body checking in Ice Hockey is an extremely important part of the game.  Too many times, young players go into the sport without fully understanding the reasoning or know-how about body contact.  Our clinics here at Ozzie Ice will provide a gradual progression of drills to better prepare all players to confidently give and receive body checks in a clean, sportsmanlike fashion.

Every Player Will Learn the Following Aspects of Checking in Our Checking Clinics:

   CHECKING STYLES:

 ·        POSITIONING CHECKS

·        BODY BLOCKS

CHECKING INSTRUCTION:

 ·        AGILITY (Quickness)

·        LATERAL MOVEMENT

·        DEFENSIVE TACTICS

·        GAP CONTROL

·        GIVING & RECEIVING PROPER BODY CHECKS


OBJECTIVES OF CHECKING
:

·        Controlling Time & Space Against the Puck Carrier.

·        Forcing Opposition to Poor Ice Position.

·        Preventing Goals Against.
